Seeing these family tragedies which live
below the poverty line and that have to live an existence
far from any human dignity and children that suffer severe
symptoms without any health insurance that protects them…
You can react in two ways: or you remain
indifferent or you do something against it.
Nobody can remain indifferent… least
of all a Christ which is appointed to realize the Christian
message. It reveals to us how God meets the people and
the problems in the world and he invites us to win against
our anthropological egoism.
The attention of the foundation for the poor
and disabled children is not only the effect of compassion
and philanthropy, but it is also stimulated by Christ’s
altruism. The foundation recognizes the visage of Christ
in the facial features of every suffering person.
There is no more brutal image than a hungry
and above all disabled child…
Their right is the
basis to our obligation!
The foundation is based on charity and on
the awareness that at the end of our lives we are judged
for the love we gave.
Due
to the love to God and to the love to the next, here
love is realized!
This “program” phrase
dominates the wall of the waiting room.
...
and Where was the foundation born?
The foundation was born in the North-East
of Brazil, in the state of Pernambuco, Jaboatão
dos Guararapes, which belongs to the metropolitan
area of Recife. Jaboatão dos Guararapes is a coastal
city with 700,000 inhabitants, which together with Recife
counts a population of nearly 3 million inhabitants.
Recife and Jaboatão are two very
beautiful and large cities… but there are numerous
contradictions: wealth and poverty, skyscrapers and favelas,
luxury houses and huts on piles, golden and sunny beaches
next to a daily reality characterized by social deterioration… all
that immediately next to each other!
The domicile of the foundation is located
in the Rua Osorio Borba 172,
a residential district of Piedade and it is only a few
meters far from the beach and the continuously warm and
pleasurable ocean.
The facilities are extended on an area
of more than 1,000 square meters and the accommodations
are allocated on two floors: in the first floor there
are the secretary, the waiting room, the consultancy
room, six therapy rooms with adapted facilities for individual
care, the dental practices, a therapy room for respiratory
diseases, the kitchen, the dining room, an assembly room,
a bath room and sanitary facilities and a garden for
various events. In the upper floor, there are seven rooms
with the capacity of giving accommodation to thirty voluntary
employees.
