In order to continue this project of love
and to maintain it always lively and effective the foundation
has to create the Samaritan community. This community consists
of young women that want to dedicate their lives to poor
and disabled children.
Facing the human tragedies of these unfavoured
children and the tormented mothers who are worried about
the future of their children – the
Samaritan does not close her eyes, she does
not pass by, but she stops… she gives herself!
The Samaritan community is secular in the
first concern, but it sees its guidance principle in the
evangelic message and holds the Christian love as an “absolute” point
of reference.
“I thought
that money would be the most beautiful present which
one could make; but then I understood that there
is something in the world that is much more worth:
it is the donation of your time, of your attention,
and of your friendship, because so you do not give
only something of your possession, but you give YOURSELF!” (Candia)
The community lives because of two large
passions: the love to God and the love to your neighbour.
For the Samaritan is love the fruit
of faith and helping others is the fruit
of love.
The value of life depends on somebody’s
ability to donate his life to a certain reason and dedicate
it to something that lasts longer than life itself.
“Lord,
do you want my hands, in order to dedicate this
day helping the poor and ill people?
LORD,
today I give you my hands.
Lord,
do you want my feet, in order to dedicate this
day visiting those who need a friend?
LORD,
today I give you my feet.
Lord,
do you want my voice, in order to dedicate this
day those who need words of love?
LORD,
today I give you my voice.
Lord,
do you want my heart, in order to love everybody
only because he or she is humanbeing.
LORD,
today I give you my heart."
(Mother Teresa from Calcutta)
It is not that important what you
give and do, but it is important how much love you
put into something.
